CARE ON ARRIVAL

Immediately when your order arrives, we suggest you follow the instructions below.

I plan to keep my mealworms for... 1 Week , 1 Month or Up to 3 Months

TIP: When you intend feeding mealworms to your pet(s) or livestock, we recommend removing the required quantity from the package into a separate container, allowing them to warm at room temperautre (21C - 26C) for 30-60 minutes. This will ensure the mealworms are lively and most active for feeding to your pet(s).

If you anticipate keeping your mealworms for around a week, we suggest simply leaving the box in your fridge or alternatively at room temperature. If you intend to store the mealworms outside, we recommend only doing so when the outside temperature is between 4C - 18C. Storing them in warm tempertures will cause the life cycle process to speed up and potentially cause some mealworms to morph into pupa. You will not need to add any food or moisture source, nor replace the substrate they are delivered in. Never directly add water to the mealworms, ensure they are always dry and out of direct sunlight.

If you anticipate keeping your mealworms for up to a month, we suggest simply leaving the box in your fridge. You will need to add moisture for the mealworms as a water source by placing a slice of apple or carot (any similar fruit or vegetable) in with the mealworms every week. Ensure you remove the old piece of fruit or vegetable before replacing with a refresh piece. This will provide a sufficient moisture source for the mealworms. Never directly add water to the mealworms, ensure they are always dry and out of direct sunlight.

If you anticipate keeping your mealworms for up to 3 months, we recommend you move the contents of the mealworm package (mealworms and food source) out into a larger plastic container. If you place a lid on the container, ensure it has air holes. Store this container in your fridge, removing every 7 days for 10-12 hours.

Since the mealworms will slowly feed on the food source (bran) the package arrived with, you will need top-up their food every 3 weeks. You can simply add any grain and cereal, such as oatmeal, wheat bran or crushed weetabix.

Never directly add water to the mealworms, ensure they are always dry and out of direct sunlight.
